61-old pilot fell overboard and died after pilot boat collided with general cargo ship SKYLARK in afternoon Oct 18, Porto Nogaro, Italy, Adriatic sea.

61-old pilot fell overboard and died after pilot boat collided with general cargo ship SKYLARK in afternoon Oct 18, Porto Nogaro, Italy, Adriatic sea. SKYLARK was leaving Porto Nogaro, bound for Turkey, with pilot on board, another pilot was on pilot boat escorting SKYLARK, boat was to take pilot to port after pilotage completion. Communications between SKYLARK pilot and pilot boat failed prior to collision, boat trying to warn freighter of dangerous maneuvering. Freighter struck or contacted boat, pilot was thrown into water by jolt, later found dead. SKYLARK was brought to anchor on outer anchorage, most probably for investigation. As of 0600 UTC Oct 19, SKYLARK was still at anchor.
